Technical leadership through everyday delivery

Make decisions understandable, reviews useful and delivery easier for the whole team.

Explain the decision

A technical decision is more useful when its reasoning is visible. Capture the problem, the constraints, the options considered and the consequence of the choice. Keep the explanation proportionate to the decision so that the team can use it without maintaining unnecessary documentation.

Make reviews a shared standard

Code review should help the team converge on understandable, maintainable software. Separate correctness and security concerns from personal preferences. Explain why a change matters, leave room for discussion and use recurring feedback to improve shared conventions and developer confidence.

Treat delivery as part of the design

Discuss verification, deployment and recovery before a change is ready to ship. Small changes with clear acceptance criteria make risks easier to see. Working with product, design and QA early helps resolve trade-offs while there is still time to adjust the implementation.
